We are currently seeking qualified candidates for the position of Gender Based Violence (GBV) Response for a USAID funded EpiC Kyrgyz Republic Global Health Security (GHS)  Project.

Since 2023 EpiC Kyrgyz Republic implement GHS project to support the Government of the Kyrgyz Republic in its preparedness and response to global health challenges and pandemics. In year 2, the project portfolio includes further expansion of gender equity, inclusion, and combatting gender-based violence (GBV) activities, including those related to cross-cutting pandemic preparedness. As it is known during the COVID-19 pandemic, women experienced increased risk of exposure to GBV. Therefore, during the 2nd year of its project implementation EpiC will explore opportunities with governmental and non-governmental support for resilient GBV services in the event of future health pandemics. EpiC’s GBV response interventions will aim at supporting the accessibility, quality and sustainability of GBV services as part of the overall country’s pandemic preparedness and response.

Qualification requirements

  • A Bachelor’s degree or higher in the relevant subject area(s), preferably in gender, social work, international development, or community development required; Master’s degree preferred;
  • Six (6) years of experience designing, managing, and implementing activities to promote gender equality, women empowerment, GBV response and social inclusion;
  • Demonstrated ability to think strategically and transmit her/his vision to partners and colleagues;
  • Proven experience in managing data collection and providing technical expertise in GBV response;  
  • Demonstrated ability in GBV response;
  • Project design, implementation, and M&E;
  • Experience developing and delivering GBV-themed content in training materials preferred;
  • Experience in GBV-focused assessments, training, and organizational capacity-building preferred;
  • Familiarity with GBV-related issues and barriers within the Kyrgyz Republic context, including during health emergencies and lockdowns;
  • Ability to navigate culturally sensitive terrain and maintain constructive and collaborative relationships with a diverse group of stakeholders;
  • Relevant computer software skills (including, at a minimum, the standard applications in MS Office);
  • Prior work experience in a non-governmental organization (NGO), government agency, or private company;
  • Prior experience in NGO capacity building;
  • Prior USAID experience preferred;
  • Strong oral and written communication skills in Kyrgyz, Russian and proficiency in English required.

Travel Requirements:

  • 30%, mostly within the Kyrgyz Republic 

Duties

Position Description

Working under the supervision of the EpiC Kyrgyzstan Associate Director for Global Health Security, the GBV Response Consultant  will  be responsible for designing and implementing the GBV project activities in line with the GHS project Work Plan.

Key Responsibilities

Under the supervision of the EpiC Kygyzstan Associate Director for Global Health Security and in close coordination with the GHS project team, the GBV Response Consultant leads the design and implementation of GBV response activities in line with the GHS Project Work Plan.

  • Coordinates and monitors project activities with involved GBV service providers and NGOs.
  • Conducts necessary GBV assessments for data driven design and implementation, including developing the assessment methodology with support from HQ technical experts.  
  • Develops GBV component related project reports, briefs, presentations and other inputs.
  • Represents EpiC project at GBV forums and discussions with government, NGO and international development partners.
  • Manages an Implementing partner/sub grantee identified for project implementation.
  • Provides GBV-focused technical leadership and guidance to project leadership, other program technical leads, and the MEL team;
  • Collaborates with a home office-based GBV experts on the GBV issues.  
  • Contributes to the development and refinement of tools, frameworks, and resources to promote gender equality and social inclusion (GESI) integration in the project;
  • Identifies successful practices in the project that can be features in reports, publications, communication materials, and conferences;
  • Provides technical input project reports to ensure quality and full compliance with donor GESI policies and progress toward achieving GESI integration in the project;
  • Provide necessary training and guidance related to GESI mainstreaming within the project’s internal operations and processes, including in recruitment and HR policies, in order to ensure a diverse team and an equitable work environment.
  • Performs any other related duties.
