Formal Education

• University or master’s degree in relevant field which relates to the Programme/Project objectives.

Professional Experience

• Minimum 3 years of professional working experience in tourism in similar position, preferably in the field of Export and Trade Fair Promotion, Sustainable Certification, Value Chain or Development Economics
• Thorough conceptual and practical understanding in the field of Sustainable Economic Development
• Ability to work independently and to take up responsibility for assigned Programme/Project activities, with apt supervision
• Accuracy, care for detail and having comprehensive overview to research
• Flexibility to travel to the regions within Kyrgyzstan.

 Further Knowledge

• Excellent command of MS-Office Suite
• Experience in working with academic research, think tanks
• Good working knowledge of modern telecommunication systems
• Good team player
• Fluency in Kyrgyz, English and Russian (both spoken and written).

Duties

Core tasks

In your role you are responsible for the technical, substantive and organizational implementation of a project’s measures and activities. In consultation with your line manager, you also assume tasks related to planning, steering and monitoring the project, including project administration tasks in some cases. You are also responsible for providing specialist support to colleagues in bands 2 and 3 and ensure the quality of the commission’s outcomes.

In addition you contribute to the conceptual design of the project, in particular its modification or realignment.

You make technical and substantive contributions to overarching issues in cooperation with commissioning parties/clients, partners and other actors and thereby support the achievement of the agreed objectives of the respective project and provide impetus for further strategy development.

In coordination with the country director and your line manager, you also use your contacts for the acquisition of contracts on behalf of the company.

In consultation with your team colleagues and line manager, you also coordinate all issues within your area of work and ensure that they are dealt with promptly and competently. You resolve problems that arise in your area of responsibility on the basis of existing rules and draw attention to more complex challenges in your team.

You are involved in ongoing process development within your remit, are responsible for knowledge management and prepare and share documentation. If required, you also support other experts in familiarizing themselves with and performing their tasks.

You perform the tasks assigned to you by your line manager, where required.

Main activities

•  Designing, administering, engaging, guiding and facilitating the overall implementation of output 2 on aspect of sustainable tourism in Issyk-Kul and Bishkek, including DMOs Karakol, South Shore, Teskey Geo Park, KATO association and others.
• Supervising and guiding the development and implementation of the activities related to output 2 on sustainable tourism development. Coordinate implementation of Local subsidies and Service contracts with KATO and DMO Karakol, South Shore and Teskey Geopark. Conduct training on green, responsible tourism for the partners.
• Elaborating activity plan, budget and monitors its progress in close cooperation with the concerned Senior Advisor in the team. Prepare progress reports.
• Leading content development on sustainable tourism in close dialogue with team members and the project/programme management. Support, assist, consult state and private partners on implementation of the State Green Economy Programme 2024-2028.
• Institutionalising sustainable practices in tourism as a prospect of business advisory services. Particularly but not only, support KATO association and DMOs in promotion and implementation of Responsible Tourism Standards in the country.
• •        Elaborating terms of references, selecting and supervising contracted third parties in carrying out activities and evaluating their performance in the area of sustainable, resource efficient and innovative measures in tourism, waste management, tourism destination management, greening tourism value chain, etc.
• Develops network with the Programme Tourism Advisor in Osh and other GIZ projects/modules, development partners engaged in the area of tourism development in general and specifically in the responsible development of the tourism value chain.
• Performing other duties and tasks as requested by the Project/Line manager/Programme manager
