Open position for an English Language Teacher (ESL/EAL) at Silk Road International School for the school year 2024/2025.

Silk Road International School (SRIS) invites applications for an English Language Teacher specialized in ESL/EAL for the 2024/2025 school year. This role is designed for educators who can effectively support students transitioning to English-medium instruction, focusing on language acquisition in primary and middle school. 

The position is open to local candidates and resident foreigners; however, applicants currently residing outside of Kyrgyzstan will not be considered.

At SRIS, we use English as the primary language of instruction and offer additional language support to students coming from Kyrgyz or Russian-medium backgrounds. This position involves providing tailored English lessons that cater to the needs of students in the early stages of language acquisition, fostering a positive and immersive language environment.

Qualification requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Education, English, or a related field.
• Teaching certification.
• A minimum of one year of teaching experience.
• Familiarity with ESL/EAL methodologies is advantageous.

Languages:

• English: C1 Level (Proficient user > Effective operational proficiency or advanced).
• Kyrgyz and/or Russian: B2 Level (Independent user > Vantage or upper intermediate) is beneficial.

Duties

• Implement engaging lesson plans to support English language immersion for ESL/EAL students.
• Monitor and assess student progress, providing feedback to help them improve.
• Collaborate with the school community to foster a positive and inclusive learning environment.
• Engage with students at varying levels of English proficiency, adapting lessons accordingly.

Conditions

Start and Duration:

• The position is for the 2024/2025 school year, starting with a week of teacher induction training on 15.08.2024. Classes commence on 26.08.2024.
• This is a full-time role, with the possibility of contract extension after the initial school year.
