Open position for a Handicraft (and Art) Teacher for Primary at Silk Road International School for the school year 2024/2025.

Silk Road International School (SRIS) invites applications for a full-time Handicraft (and Art) Teacher to educate students from Kindergarten to Grade 5. This position focuses on fostering creative expression through hands-on activities, helping young learners develop essential motor skills and an appreciation for both handicraft and art.

Qualification requirements

Education and Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts, Handicrafts, or a related field.
• Teaching certification/licensure suitable for primary grade levels.
• Prior experience (1 year or more) in teaching handicrafts or art.
• Strong foundation in classroom management and age-appropriate teaching strategies.

Key Competencies and Skills:

• Ability to work effectively with young children.
• Patience, creativity, and strong communication skills.
• Organizational skills and the ability to plan and implement lessons.
• Ability to foster creativity and a love for hands-on projects.
• Collaboration with teaching staff to integrate creative arts into broader curriculum goals.

Languages:

• English: Solid B2 Level, better: C1 Level (Proficient user > Effective operational proficiency or advanced).

Duties

• Plan and implement a creative curriculum focusing on both handicraft and art for primary students.
• Develop age-appropriate instructional strategies to meet creative curriculum goals.
• Teach various handicraft techniques and use of different materials.
• Create a classroom environment conducive to hands-on learning and creativity.
• Assess and evaluate student progress regularly.
• Provide feedback to parents and relevant stakeholders about student achievements.
• Organize and maintain classroom materials, tools, and inventory.
• Lead student art displays and exhibits to showcase their creative projects.

Start and Duration:

• This position is currently open.
• Full-time role with a one-year contract, with the possibility of extension.
