Position Title: Translator/ Interpreter (Eng-Rus; Rus-Eng)

Duty Station: Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan

Type of Appointment: Consultancy

Duration: June 2024 – March 2025 (11 months)

Closing Date: April 25, 2024

Nature of the consultancy: Translation and Interpretation Services for the Centre of Employment Abroad (CEA) under the Ministry of Labour, Social Protection and Migration of the Kyrgyz Republic.

Project Context and Scope: Supporting Safe and Orderly Migration from Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan to the UK.

Organizational Department / Unit to which the Consultant is contributing: Centre of Employment Abroad (CEA) under the Ministry of Labour, Social Protection and Migration of the Kyrgyz Republic and IOM Kyrgyzstan.

Qualification requirements

Education, Experience and/or skills required:

  • Bachelor’s or higher degree in linguistics, sociology, international development or other relevant field.
  • At least 5 years of working experience in interpreting/translation services; 
  • Knowledge of labour migration context in Kyrgyzstan;
  • Fluent in English and Russian, knowledge of Kyrgyz is an advantage.

    Duties

    Category A Consultant: Tasks to be performed under this contract:

    1. Written translation of the documents related to the CEA activities (English-Russian, Russian-English).
    2. Interpretation services during the CEA meetings, roundtables etc.

    Performance indicators for the evaluation of results:

    1. Monthly reports with description of the services provided for the CEA (i.e. translated documents, interpretation services during the meetings, etc.).
    2. Since this is a part-time position, the attendance sheet to be attached to reports.
