Overview:

In partnership with the prime organization, ACDI/VOCA is currently implementing a five-year program entitled “Agro Trade Activity (ATA)” in Kyrgyzstan funded by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID). The aim of the Kyrgyzstan ATA program is to enhance competitiveness of Kyrgyz agricultural businesses while increasing sustainable jobs and incomes and expanding trade with Uzbekistan in the rural areas of southern Kyrgyzstan.

Pursuant to its mission, ACDI/VOCA is seeking for experienced and talented professionals for the Extension Services Development Expert position. The positions will be based in Osh and responsible for project activities aimed at analyzing needs, opportunities and constrains in knowledge provision to farmers, SMEs, agrobusinesses and other value chain actors. Candidate should be able to identify training and consulting needs and be able to assess existing service providers in Kyrgyzstan and in project zone of influence in particular for their capabilities and potential engagement in project activities. Knowledge of value chains, agrobusiness landscape in project zone of influence, ability to provide services through trainings and consultations are among major skills required for this position.

Qualification requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in relevant field
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in agriculture, preferably in provision of extension services, trainings and provision of other advisory services to agricultural value chain actors.
  • Past working experience working with local extension service providers like RAS JA, RAS Osh, Mehr Shavkat, Bio Service, Bio farmer, TES Centre is an advantage.
  • Ability to coach service providers and consultants in developing training materials considering the needs of processing companies and consolidation centers.
  • Experience and practical knowledge in designing training and extension materials.
  • Must be able to exercise facilitation, training and coaching skills.
  • Knowledge of agricultural landscape, opportunities and challenges is essential.
  • Strong writing, analytical, presentation and reporting skills.
  • Strong Verbal and Written English skills.
  • Must be able to travel within the regions of Kyrgyzstan.  

Duties

  • Prepare extension materials using training, presentation and other tools, and implement individual and group training seminars for agricultural value chain actors
  • Work with state and private extensions workers/services to develop specialized service activities in agriculture the project zone of influence
  • Plan, develop, organize and evaluate training programs in various areas of agricultural value chains subjects
  • Facilitate and participate in development of extension materials, such as leaflets, pamphlets, and other material for use as training aids.
  • Perform informal education of farmers through farm visits and ability to perform farm-level demonstrations
  • Work with advisory groups, facilitate discussions and develop educational programs to meet project needs.
