Описание курса/тренинга

USAID's Leaders Advancing Democracy (LEAD) Mongolia Program is a five-year initiative helping to build the next generation of democracy champions across Mongolia.

Through this cooperative agreement with USAID, World Learning, together with its partners International Republican Institute (IRI) and Centre for Citizenship Education (CCE) are undertaking a variety of leadership programs, international exchanges, and civic education activities.

The LEAD Mongolia Program consists of three important and interconnected activities, designed to support promising young leaders to work collaboratively to solve the country’s most pressing issues. The program includes a U.S.-Mongolia Emerging Leaders Exchange Program with 230 young leaders aged 25 to 40 from different sectors; an international LEAD Alliance, which connects Mongolian emerging leaders with like-minded peers in Bhutan, Kyrgyzstan and Myanmar, and positions them as regional leaders; and a civic education curriculum development and citizen engagement component with high school students.

World Learning is partnering with USAID on this important initiative to support Mongolia’s best and brightest young democracy advocates to realize their vision for positive change in their country. Our participants, known as LEAD Fellows, work together and work on projects that create positive change in the areas of poverty and unemployment, environment and urbanization, and transparency and anti-corruption. Participants are also trained to be inclusion champions, equipped with best practices on how to incorporate inclusion in their projects and careers and advance their understanding of inclusive democracy and development.  At the conclusion of the LEAD Mongolia Program, these young up-and-coming leaders will have the requisite skills, knowledge, and networks to engage constructively with and within their government, communities, or other institutions for improved democratic outcomes.

The following application form has four sections including i) bio-data information, ii) essay questions, iii) policy theme of choice and iv) certification. You will be asked to submit four, maximum 200-word essays and one 30-60-second video essay to answer the following questions:

  1. What is your vision for your community/country? How does LEAD help you attain that vision?
  2. Tell us about the most difficult colleague(s) you have led or worked with. Why was it difficult and how did you cope? What was the outcome?

  3. What is an important issue you have changed your mind about? Explain why? What did you learn as a result?

  4. What is the simplest thing you do in your everyday life to ensure the fundamental democratic rights and the dignity of all people? Please provide a specific personal example.

  5. Video essay (Please see further instructions below**):

Fellows are committed to creating positive impact through their work, in their communities, or in the lives of people around them. What positive impact are you making now? How? Please be specific.

Please respond to this question with 30-60 second video and provide the link to your uploaded video.

**The intent of the video response is to get to know you personally a little better. The video response will not be evaluated based on the quality of the video, rather it will be focusing on how you respond to the above question. Please upload your video essay on YouTube in “UNLISTED” form and add the link into your online application form. You can see this video to get instructions on how to upload an unlisted video onto YouTube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Go_HDCANWf8.

The policy theme of choice section will ask you to choose one of the following three themes: (1) Environment and Urbanization, (2) Poverty Alleviation and Unemployment, and (3) Transparency and Anti-corruption. 3. How will you contribute to the success of your team’s project, even if the team project idea ends up different from your original idea?

Please submit fully completed applications only. Do not submit additional materials - only a complete application is required. ONLY ONE application is allowed per applicant. Please submit your online application by October 20, 2019.

Applications will be evaluated by IRI's Mongolia office. Please note that due to the volume of applications, we will only contact semifinalists.

As in years past, we want people to apply online at https://bit.ly/2NyjlZG. , which also contains details about the program and criteria. However, to ensure inclusivity, we also have a fillable PDF application form for those who need to fill it out by hand; the form is also attached. We are also  tracking outreach for reporting purposes, so please shoot us a message about your outreach and Baaska will be keeping track of that.
